The Ekiti Democratic Coalition has alleged that 15 lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress were bribed withN800million to impeach new Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose.
The accusation was made through a statement released on Wednesday, 22 October, by the Coordinator of the group, Comrade Aderemi Olaleye.
The group claimed that the lawmakers met with former Governor, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and National leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday, 21 October, to get their orders on the impeachment process.
According to the Ekiti Democratic Coalition, the lawmakers got N50 million, while the Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin, was given N100 million.
The statement said in part, “Apart from the Speaker, some of the lawmakers who attended the meeting were the Deputy Speaker, Adetunji Orisalade, Majority Leader, Churchill Adedipe Adetunji Odu and Ogunrinde Ojo-Olaseinde. Tinubu instructed the Assembly members to make sure that Ekiti State is made ungovernable for Governor Fayose.”
Ayo Fayose of the People’s Democratic Party was recently sworn in on Thursday, 16 October, in Ado Ekiti, after he defeated Kayode Fayemi in the gubernatorial elections of the state on 21 June.
